Happy Diwali | Celebrating the season of lights

Diwali is one of my favorite holidays of the year. The weather is usually wonderful.  The unbearably hot days of summer have finally started to fade, replaced by the beautifully temperate days of autumn. The leaves don't change colors here but it is finally cool enough for my rose bushes to explode into full bloom.

The actual day of Diwali is on Thursday this year. We celebrated last weekend at the local temple.  They have a very fun carnival atmosphere with food stalls, fire crackers, kids games like balloon darts, and archery.  Our kids were begging for cotton candy but we got them little bags of popcorn.  So funny how this little treat (which they get by the bag full at home) is so fun for them.  The night was capped off with fireworks and dancing.  We danced around the parking lot instead so we could make a quick getaway.

What do I really love? Getting everyone dressed up and taking pictures with the big camera.

Holding hands.

Those little toes.

Timer shots.

He wanted those tickets really badly.

She is definitely the calm one.  It is her first year to even hold a fire cracker.

He was pretty much fearless as always. I love just watching him have fun.

Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!!
